7th annual Patriot Games Lacrosse Tournament brings 8,000 people to Bucks County
(Bucks County, PA) Returning to Bucks County for the seventh consecutive year, the Patriot Games Lacrosse Tournament will bring approximately 8,000 people to the area for a two-day tournament this weekend, July 19-20.
3,200 athletes from 11 states including Connecticut, Georgia, New York, Texas, Ohio, right here in Pennsylvania and more will travel to Bucks County for the competitive tournament for boys' ages 8 through 18. 164 teams total will compete in the tournament.
More than 20 hotels in Bucks County in Bensalem, Langhorne, Quakertown, Warrington, Levittown, Newtown and Warminster will provide lodging for athletes, coaches and their families.
What does this all mean? Major economic impact for Bucks County! According to Tourism Economics and Visit Philadelphia, visitor spending in Bucks County generates:
• $877.3 million in local economic impact
• $117 million in federal, state and local taxes
• Tourism supports 11,637 jobs locally
"Sports events like the Patriot Games help contribute to these overall tourism numbers," said Jerry Lepping, executive director for Visit Bucks County. "They stimulate the economy and jobs creation by filling hotels, restaurants, attractions and shops throughout Bucks County."
Scott Growney, co-director of the Patriot Games tells Visit Bucks County that lacrosse is very popular in New York (one of Visit Bucks County's target markets) and several teams from Long Island and upstate NY are traveling to the area to compete this year.
The Patriot Games returns to Bucks County again and again because of the county's prime location along the I-95 corridor, making the area easy to get to with plenty of reasons to come early and stay after the tournament.
