AmericanStyle Magazine Recognizes New Hope as One of the Top 25 Art Destinations in the Country!
Bensalem, Pa (May 12, 2008) The Bucks County Conference and Visitors Bureau (BCCVB), and the Greater New Hope Chamber of Commerce are proud to announce that AmericanStyle magazine has ranked NEW HOPE, Pa., among the top arts destinations in America in 2008.
New Hope, noted for its scenic byways and charming galleries, placed 16th among small cities and towns (population 100,000 and under) in the Top 25 Arts Destinations readers’ poll, which is conducted annually by the magazine.
New Hope has been a reader favorite for many years: In 2005, New Hope/Lahaska took first place among small cities and towns. In 2006 and 2007, the readers assigned it 20th place. This year, New Hope began climbing in popularity again.
“We congratulate the winners for all they have done to nurture the arts and to support artists,” said Wendy Rosen, publisher of AmericanStyle. “No matter a city’s size, it can make an impact in the arts. In the winning cities and towns, art is fueling economic development, and you can see the results in the popularity of these towns among our readers, who are art collectors and arts tourists.”
Louis Licitra, President of the Greater New Hope Chamber of Commerce noted, "From year-round Second Saturdays gallery events to the annual fall New Hope Outdoor Arts and Crafts Festival, New Hope's accomplished artisans, merchants, gallery owners and museums maintain a long tradition of craftsmanship and art expertise. We're excited to be acknowledged for these efforts by our many visitors from across the country."
Jerry Lepping, Executive Director of the BCCVB added his congratulations to the town of New Hope. He stated, “We congratulate New Hope on this prestigious honor. The talent and creativity of New Hope’s artists makes Bucks even more interesting and attractive to tourists and makes New Hope a beautiful place to live and work.”
The rankings are based on reader responses to ballots placed in the magazine and posted online each year. The readers are encouraged to choose from a list of well-known arts destinations, or to write in the names of their favorites.
The complete results of the annual poll and profiles of the top three large, midsize and small cities are featured at www.americanstyle.com and in AmericanStyle’s June 2008 edition, which is on newsstands and at major booksellers now.
