Sports Tournament Brings In More Than 1,000 Room Nights

(Bucks County, PA) Visit Bucks County, the official tourism promotion agency for Bucks County, welcomes the 5th Annual Patriot Games Youth Lacrosse Showcase July 21-22. The two-day event will bring approximately 10,000 people to Bucks County for the popular boys' lacrosse tournament, resulting in more than 1,000 hotel room nights.

The Patriot Games will be held at fields throughout the county, including venues in Pipersville, Kintersville and New Hope. The tournament, which features boys' lacrosse, attracts the top club teams from all over the United States and Canada.

"We're thrilled to bring the Patriot Games back to Bucks County for the fifth consecutive year," said Patriot Games Director Patrick Carney. "Year over year, Bucks County has proven to be a hospitable and conveniently located destination for the tournament, which will feature 190 teams from more than 15 states."

The 2012 Patriot Games is estimated to generate more than $1.5 million in economic impact over the weekend-long tournament. In years past, the tourism office has seen a trend in families extending their stay during Patriot Games to take advantage of Bucks County as their summer vacation. As a result, Bucks County attractions, restaurants and hotels could see an increase in traffic in the days surrounding the tournament.

"Visit Bucks County and the Bucks County Sports Commission are looking forward to hosting another successful Patriot Games tournament this year," said Dawn Counard, sales manager. "Sports tournaments like the Patriot Games are great for Bucks County businesses, filling hotels, restaurants, attractions and shops throughout the county."
