Valerie Ann Leeds, Ph.D., Guest Curator will discuss significant contributions of George Sotter (1879-1953), an artist strongly identified with Bucks County, Pennsylvania. He is best known for his magical winter nocturnes, scenes made even more enchanting by the blanket of snow that is a recurring motif in his work. Equally evocative, however, are his tranquil marines and sunlit landscapes. Sotter was a master at rendering sweeping panoramic vistas of Bucks County’s hills, gently rolling under cumulous cloud-filled skies that create dramatic patterns of light and shadow.
