Participating in Nature: The Human Animal Return of the Shad

A monthly year-long series of workshops: 6 participants per workshop – Adults only
This series of workshops are designed to actively participate in nature as Indigenous First Peoples did. The first workshop, Return of the Shad, will start with the beginning of the new cycle of life when the rivers, valleys and streams begin to fill up with life and food. You will learn how to safely locate, identify and harvest wild edibles, covering a few miles on possible muddy terrain. We will bring back what we’ve gathered and prepare and sample what we’ve harvested. Skills to learn will include Bow drill fire making, wild edible gathering and preparation. Bring snacks, a good sharp non-serrated knife for carving with a 4-5 inch blade, small note book, side bag for gathering, water, garden clippers and Peterson Field Guild to Edible Plants, Eastern/Central America.  Pre-Registration required
