Twilight Tales: American Tall Tales and Larger-than-Life Heroes
To celebrate the Mercer Centennial, a spoken word artist will perform in the dramatic atmosphere of the museum’s original Central Court. Each performance features traditional and original tales linked to the museum’s history and collections.
Just in time for Halloween, storyteller Bill Wood tells some tales guaranteed to make your skin crawl – stories not heard anywhere except in the shadowy halls of the Mercer castle!. Inspired by objects in the museum’s collections – a vampire killing kit, “witch” doctor’s cane, the inkwell of Edgar Allan Poe – Wood weaves these artifacts imaginatively into his own creative and entertaining narratives.
Appropriate for adults and youth ages 8 and up. The program is followed by refreshments and a chance to meet the performer.
