Celebrate the history and recognize the role of African Americans throughout the country and Bucks County this February!
- Hear vocalist Keith Spencer perform songs from the Civil Rights Movement at Bucks County Community College February 2.
The Mercer Museum and the African American Museum of Bucks County present “Our Circus Lives: with Vanessa Thomas Smith and Robert Houston” February 11 at the Mercer. View costumes and other circus memorabilia from the first female African American circus ringmaster and hear stories from the big top enthusiasts.
- See the Grammy award-winning Sharon Katz & The Peace Train perform at Bucks County Community College February 25. The multicultural South African band helped Nelson Mandela end Apartheid and continue spreading the message of reconciliation through shows and workshops around the world.
- Check out the “Life As It Is,” art exhibit at the Bucks County Visitor Center in Bensalem through March 10. Painter Tom McKinney shows off his work from the black community. Stick around the visitor center to explore the gift shop and the sculpture, “Together,” by Bucks County artist, Selma Burke.
- Visit Quakertown where the house of Richard Moore was an important Underground Railroad stop. Or, stop by the Harriet Tubman statue and memorial in Lions Park along Delaware River waterfront of Bristol.
