Hi there, I’m Brooke and I am so excited to introduce you to “From The Locals,” Visit Bucks County’s new podcast series dedicated to the people places and experiences that make Bucks County a truly unique destination. As your host, I’ll talk with bakers, innkeepers, winemakers, boutique owners and so many more locals who call Bucks County home.

As you may have heard, the first episode is now LIVE! You can subscribe to the series and listen to Episode 1 on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, iHeart Radio, and Stitcher.  You can also click here and tune in from your desktop.

In this episode, I speak with Timothy Mourer, owner of The Happy Mixer, a 100% gluten-free bakery with locations in Chalfont and Newtown. The baked goods may not have gluten, but make no mistake – this is no “flourless chocolate cake” type of place. The Happy Mixer has everything, including cupcakes, donuts, cookies, pies, specialty cakes, pretzels, monkey bread, cinnamon buns, seasonal loaf cakes – the delicious list goes on and on… and on.

The first time I visited The Happy Mixer was with a friend who’s gluten-free. She was in awe that instead of having to choose only one or two items that would accommodate her allergy, she could pick anything off the shelves! It was the first time ever that she had an experience like that and right away I knew The Happy Mixer was a special place.

I contacted Tim about being a guest on the show and the more I learned about his story, the more I wanted to share it. In February, we sat down at his location in Newtown to record this episode and we talked about Tim’s baking beginnings, what visitors can expect when they visit his shop, and why he’s proud to own and run his business in the same area where he grew up.

I was captivated by Tim’s drive to achieve his dream of owning a business and how he turned a personal struggle along the way and into an opportunity for others. But what I was most impressed with is Tim’s complete dedication to giving his customers the absolute best. Whether it’s the taste and texture of his baked goods, the exquisite customer service, or the sheer variety of items offered, Tim is committed to giving every customer the special experience they deserve because no one, no matter what their dietary restrictions are, deserves anything less. It’s that belief that makes The Happy Mixer unlike any other bakery.
