Mid-winter have you feeling like you’ve had too much comfort food and couch time and not enough leafy greens and movement? If you’re looking to break your sugar streak with some fibrous, vitamin-rich, healthy eats, Bucks County has you covered. From fruity bowls to protein packed breakfasts, here’s my list of the four best places for unique healthy bites in the area. (Bonus: all of these places are positioned perfectly for a post-meal walk to burn off some of those extra calories!)
Nourish by Mama (Doylestown)
Okay, I’ve been dying to try new foodie joint by Kendall Bajek (also known for her amazing Argentine empenadas at Empenada Mama) that just opened and it was SO worth the anticipation. Her team of chefs fuses different ethnic backgrounds with unique flavors and ingredients, creating farm fresh egg breakfasts, toasts served on sourdough bread imported from Spain, hearty grain bowls and fresh salads.
Moku-Bowls (Peddler’s Village and Ferry Market, New Hope)
Inspired by the food and healthy lifestyle they discovered on a trip to Hawaii, Moku-Bowls owners brought the tastes of the islands to Bucks County. Their signature Poke bowls bring a new spin to an Asian-inspired Hawaiian classic packed with marinated meat or seafood, along with fresh fruit and vegetables. Sunshine bowls offer bases like açaí chia seed pudding, paired with fresh fruit, granola and nut butter toppings.
Down to Earth Cafe (Perkasie)
Down to Earth Café prides itself on serving up locavore meals (meals provided by local farmers, or as local as possible). Their kitchen makes breakfast and lunch with healthy options like their Breakfast Burrito, Green Gold Smoothie and the Anti-Salerno sandwich. Craving a smoothie? Yup, they’ve got those too!
Frutta Bowls (Quakertown)
You may find these healthy bowls too pretty to eat! Frutta bowls offers bowls full of nutritious goodness, including açaí bowls, pitaya bowls, kale bowls and hot oatmeal bowls. Plus, they also have toasts and smoothies to make the perfect pair.
