“Charlie Brown Jazz” will feature the Eric Mintel Quartet playing music from “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and a selection of original songs.
The Eric Mintel Quartet has been playing its electrifying brand of jazz for more than 25 years, largely in the Greater Philadelphia region. But it has ventured beyond at the request of some notable jazz fans, including Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. The quartet has also performed at the Kennedy Center on several occasions.
“A Charlie Brown Christmas” first aired in 1965. The animated TV special has gone on to become a holiday staple for every generation since. While the Peanuts gang was at the height of its popularity in the mid-sixties, the special drew added attention for its unorthodox jazz score by pianist Vince Guaraldi.
The Eric Mintel Quartet is comprised of pianist and composer Eric Mintel, saxophonist Nelson Hill, bassist Brian Bortz, and drummer Dave Mohn.
