Come out to design your own 100% natural cutting board! This is a two day workshop (back to back Saturdays from 5:30-7:30pm).
Matt DiDomenico specializes in fine woodworking and he will walk you through designing and creating a 12" x 18" x 1.25" cutting board that you will take home with you at the end of the second class!
Below are the detailed explanations of each workshop from Matt:
-Participants will get a quick explanation of the process of creating the cutting board and information about the wood used. (let's be realistic, no one wants to hear me talk about wood so it will be brief so we can get to creating)
-I will provide a large selection of wood so everyone can create the design they want. Participants will begin selecting pieces that will shape their cutting board. -As everyone makes their final selection of the wood they want to use we can begin the glue ups. This is when all of the pieces selected are glued, clamped, and wiped clean.
I'll take all glue ups to my shop where they will be planed down and routered to prepare for the second workshop.
- This is where participants will be able to take their cutting board from a rough slab to a finished product. This will consist of a lot of hand sanding.
-After sanding, they will drill and attach rubber feet.
-Lastly, the best part, they will put the first coat of oil on their new cutting board. This is the moment when the board comes to life!
