A Day in Doylestown

Doylestown blends quaint charm with big-city experiences. This historic, artistic, and very walkable town is filled with charm and cultural richness. While you’ll need more than a day to experience all of this destination’s attractions, we’ve created an itinerary to get you started.

  • Fonthill Castle
  • Mercer Museum

9:00 a.m. – Coffee & Castles

Start your day with coffee and breakfast at Native Cafe, where Thai and American cuisine come together in fresh and delicious ways.

Take your treats to go and picnic on the grounds of the eclectic Fonthill Castle. After enjoying the view, head inside for a one-hour guided tour, where you’ll be awed by the diverse architecture, elaborate handcrafted tiles, and extensive library.

11:00 a.m. – Morning at the Museum

Next, choose between Mercer Museum, another castle filled with 40,000 early American artifacts, or the Michener Art Museum, which displays Pennsylvania Impressionist paintings and works by many other American artists. Both collections showcase Doylestown’s historical and artistic relevance and are within walking distance of the town square.

For something a little more unconventional, venture into VAMPA: Vampire Art Museum & Paranormal Activity. This one-of-a-kind destination immerses visitors in the eerie and imaginative world of vampire-inspired art and paranormal activity, offering a spine-tingling complement to the town’s more traditional museums.

  • The Doylestown Inn
  • The Hattery

12:30 p.m. – Lunch Downtown

With so many delicious restaurants nearby, we recommend The Hattery Stove & Still, a restored inn that captures local historic charm, located inside the iconic Doylestown Inn. Soak in the antique industrial ambiance while enjoying modern American comfort food.

2:00 p.m. – Retail Therapy

After your midday meal, explore Main Street and its many locally owned boutiques and artisan shops. Browse The Doylestown Bookshop to find your next great read, or purchase a unique gift or apparel item at Serendipity to commemorate your trip.
