Among the projects featured is a full-scale Durham boat replica currently under construction by the Friends of Washington Crossing Park. The 40-foot vessel is modeled after the same type of boat used by General George Washington and the Continental Army during their historic crossing of the Delaware River on Christmas night in 1776.
As part of the park's expanded interpretive offerings for the United States Semiquincentennial in 2026, the replica will be permanently displayed along the riverbank, allowing visitors to climb aboard and experience a tangible connection to one of the nation's most pivotal moments. The installation will enhance the park's Colonial Days programming, annual crossing reenactments, daily guided tours and educational field trip experiences.
