Last weekend excitement levels in our house were high. Could it be because of the decorations up around the house? Sure. The hot chocolate with extra marshmallows cooling on the countertop? I guess. Or maybe because it was finally time for our annual holiday lights drive around?
Definitely.
Friends, I can’t believe it, but this is year SEVEN of our family driving around Bucks County to check out the incredible residential light displays set up for the season. For those keeping track, our kids are now nine and three – and neither one of them remember a winter without doing this drive! We are so grateful to Visit Bucks and to the hardworking, super lights-committed families around the county for keeping this tradition going strong. Pretty sure we say it every year, but the 2025 drive might be the best one yet.
A couple devoted readers pointed out that it’s been a while since we spent time in Doylestown on our tour, so we decided to center our route in and around the Doylestown area. I figured it might be a fun loop for families already in town for the super special Holidays at Fonthill Castle or Peddler’s Village displays. But as always, please don’t stress if this is not your area! There are so many incredible other stops county wide, and I’m a big fan of these other driving tours.
Ready, set – here we go!
Stop One: Pipersville Projections, 5056 Kratz Carriage Rd, Pipersville, PA 18947
We headed up river from our house in New Hope toward our first stop in Pipersville and had the nicest drive. It was such a great excuse to meander down country roads that we don’t often take and loved the glimpses of really lovely lights in so many yards and farms heading North. But there was no question we had found our destination when we pulled onto Kratz Carriage Road – there were already cars lining the street taking in the display. Easily the most impressive projections show I’ve seen in all the years we’ve been doing this tour, this light show is crisp, well mapped out, and perfectly synced to music playing over a radio station we could tune to in the car. We watched all of the “Charlie Brown’s Christmas” portion of the show and especially loved the way the action traveled in, around, and across the house’s windows. Very colorful, super fun, solid start!
Stop Two: Green Heather Lights, 4814 Green Heather Ct, Doylestown, PA 18902
From Pipersville, we drove down toward Buckingham and Doylestown, making our way toward Green Heather Lights. Regular readers might remember we visited five years ago in 2020 and I am so glad we came back for a second visit! The house and yard are absolutely covered with LED lights, each of which synced up to seasonal songs playing over their own radio station. It’s a super precise display, with so many changes we initially thought they might be projecting onto the house as well – but I don’t think they are! Instead, the lights on the walls and freestanding trees are just really cleverly used to imbue the display with as much movement and as many colors as possible. Don’t miss it!
Stop Three: Christmas Corner, 212 Stags Leap Cir, Doylestown, PA 18901
Onward to another Doylestown home we haven’t returned to since our very first time doing this tour in 2019. And it is hard to overstate how wonderful this stop is – or how much it has grown! Yes, the Christmas Corner has lights and inflatables – but where else will you find a walking path of homemade animatronic dioramas? Let alone ones that celebrate Rocky IV or the Eagles Super Bowl victory with Nick Foles (aka Saint Nick, of course)? Displays like this one, full of every decoration imaginable and also home-grown enthusiasm are my absolute favorite to come across. I especially love the way this display seemed to push beyond the confines of its yard and weave into the rest of the neighborhood, making the cul-de-sac a sort of immersive experience. Definitely pay this one a visit, and get out of your car to fully appreciate the dioramas.
Stop Four: Windsor Way Light Show, 253 Windsor Way, Doylestown, PA 18901
In a hilarious moment of accidentally bad timing, we pulled up to the Windsor Way Light Show and assumed this was a sort of understated display. This was our first year paying this show a visit, and every once in a while, we get a sweet, quieter, simpler stop and with just a few twinkly snowflakes; I assumed this house was one of those. But then the track changed on their soundtrack, the bass dropped, and the four spotlights lit up. You guys, and I say this in the best way, there was nothing understated here. A front yard full of rows of color changing LED spikes and three singing trees? Yes. Windows with rainbow snowflakes and bats? Absolutely. Enough roaming searchlights to land a plane? For sure. If you’re looking for a quiet moment, keep driving – but if you’re ready for a full-on party, come on over to Windsor Way.
Stop Five: Misfit Meadows, 6205 Stoney Hill Road, New Hope, PA 18938
In a driving tour miracle, both our kids were awake by the time we reached Misfit Meadows back in our neck of the woods (sure, Clover had been asleep since Pipersville, but she rallied!). We have probably visited this house the most times out of any stop on our driving tour, but this was the first year everybody was awake and ready to walk through the whole display. Chock full of inflatables of every possible size and shape, Misfit Meadows is the best kind of chaotic joy. A hay covered path meanders through the front yard that has something for everybody, including an enormous inflatable reindeer, several abominable snowmen, Santas doing everything from flying airplanes to hopping into a hot tub, and countless other colorful, puffy, inflatable characters. Our kids especially loved the rainbow entrance, inflatable advent calendar, and the dozens of Grinches.
By the time we got home, it was well past everybody’s bedtime. But we stayed up just a bit later, talking about our favorite spots, the surprising decorations, the songs we played on the radio. As our kids get older, one of my favorite things to do is watch the way they take something that has gone on around them for years and make it their own. And as they brushed their teeth and got ready for bed, I loved hearing Howie and Clover chatter on about what they’ve seen, and how it really feels like we’re ready for Christmas and Hannukah now. Here’s hoping all of you are feeling that same seasonal glow.
From our own little corner of Bucks County, wishing all of you a wonderful holiday season!
