Ken Burns’ new documentary series, The American Revolution, premieres November 16, 2025, on PBS.
The six-part, 12-hour documentary series tells the story of America’s eight-year War for Independence and how experiences, conflicts and ideals shaped the Revolution.
Directed by Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein, and David Schmidt, and written by Geoffrey C. Ward, the series took over nine years to make, and features hundreds of historical voices including narrator Peter Coyote and actors Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, Samuel L. In Bucks County, filming occurred at Washington Crossing Historic Park on five separate occasions, the Half-Moon Inn, Perkasie farmland, and scenic river shots in New Hope.
The series will air for six consecutive nights starting November 16-21, 2025 and be available for streaming on PBS.org and the PBS App, with multiple rebroadcasts scheduled through 2026, including a marathon from Saturday, June 27 – Sunday, June 28 leading up to July 4, 2026, America’s Semi quincentennial.
